Homegrown - Eating Local in Mykonos
Eat Up at Vioma!
Take a break from the beach for a day on the farm. Discover Mykonos Vioma - an organic farm and winery brimming with local flavor and charm.
A TASTE OF THE COUNTRY
Get out of town and get into this insanely tiny wine tasting (3 full glasses… what???). The winery here is so cute you could absolutely die. All the grapes ar frown on the land and many are varietals only found here in Greece. They are nurtured by the family who owns Vioma and once a year they are pressed the old school way… wait for it… by foot. Yes. Like on I Love Lucy. The bottles are all small batch and you can walk away with a bottle for a gift (if you don’t drink it in your hotel room first). Their wines are also available in the grocery stores here. So if you really like them, you don’t have to track all the way back to the farm to snag some for your stash. We recommend the Assyrtiko. A dry white that is sure to please!
FARM TO TABLE FOR REALZ
Everything on the menu is local. The veggies are all grown on the farm and you can seriously taste how fresh every salad is. Try the lousa - a Mykonian sort of prosciutto. The assortment of cheeses is a taste of Greece. Bread basket with olive oil, tomato paste, tzatiki, and an assortment of olives keeps you from getting toooo tipsy at lunch. And after lunch guests are invited to tour the farm. You’ll start with the garden veggie patch. Next up is the vineyard. And then the farm animals. Baby goats and a donkey. When we say cute, we mean CUTE!
Eat up, friends!
cheers ;)
